How to measure a couch cushion

Unzip the cover and measure the foam itself, edge to edge: width across the front, depth front to back, and thickness. For T-cushions, also measure the width at the back and the depth of the side “ears”. Our couch cushion measuring guide walks through each shape.

Choosing the foam

  • High Density: medium feel for everyday seats, benches and sofas
  • Lux foam: firm, best for dining seats 1–3″ thick and heavy daily use
  • Super Soft: soft, for back cushions only, never seats
  • Dacron wrap (add-on): a softer, rounder edge for sofa and window seat cushions

Choose from Warwick upholstery (Australian, made for indoor furniture), velvet, Warwick faux leather and Sunbrella for homes with kids, pets or sun-filled rooms. Not sure about a color? Order swatches first.

Questions about replacement couch cushions

Should I replace the foam or the whole cushion?

If your covers are in good shape and only the cushion has gone flat, replacement foam is the cheaper fix. If the fabric is worn, stained or faded, replace the whole cushion. Our guide foam or whole cushion? explains how to decide.

What thickness are most sofa seat cushions?

Most sofa seat cushions are 4″ to 6″ thick. Measure your existing foam rather than the cover, since covers stretch over time. We make cushions up to 8″ thick; thicker ones are quoted by email.

Can you make covers for my existing sofa cushions?

Yes. Order covers only made to the size of your foam.

Do you make cushions for IKEA, Pottery Barn and other brands?

How long do replacement couch cushions take?

Most orders ship in 2–3 weeks. Ultraleather and Gabriel fabrics are made to order and take 8–12 weeks.
