About this collection

Fabrica Kraft makes blackout curtains to the exact width and drop of your window, then backs them with a 100% blackout privacy lining to stop daylight, streetlight and screen glare. Choose your Warwick fabric, heading and fullness: panels run from 10″ to 120″ wide and up to 144″ long.

Every pair is cut and sewn to order and ships in 2–3 weeks with free US shipping. There's no minimum order, and per-panel prices drop at 2, 4, 8 and 16+ pieces. Want soft daylight too? Layer them with our custom sheer curtains on a double rod.

Choose your heading

  • Pinch pleat: tailored, even folds for bedrooms and formal living rooms
  • Back tab: hidden loops and soft pleat-like folds for modern rooms
  • Rod pocket: gathered on the rod, for windows you rarely open

Why made to measure blocks more light

  • Panels that total 1.5–2× your rod width overlap in the middle and wrap past the frame
  • Floor-length panels stop light spilling under the hem
  • Widths up to 120″ cover patio doors and bay windows

Questions about blackout curtains

Quick answers about sizing, fabrics, foam and delivery.

Do blackout curtains block 100% of light? + −

Our 100% blackout privacy lining stops light passing through the fabric. Most remaining light leaks around the edges, so for a fully dark room mount the rod 4–6″ above the frame, extend it 4–6″ past each side, and choose floor-length panels.

What is the difference between blackout and room-darkening curtains? + −

Blackout curtains use a lining that stops light passing through the fabric. Room-darkening curtains only dim a room and still let a glow through. The color doesn't decide which one you get; the lining does.

Do blackout curtains help keep a room cool in summer and warm in winter? + −

Yes. The lining adds a layer between the glass and the room, which helps keep summer heat out and winter warmth in. Floor-length panels that wrap past the frame work best.

How wide should blackout curtains be? + −

Order panels that together measure 1.5 to 2 times your rod width, so they overlap in the middle and wrap past the window frame. Each panel can be made from 10″ to 120″ wide and up to 144″ long.

How do I measure for custom blackout curtains? + −

For width, measure the rod end to end, multiply by 1.5–2 for fullness and split the total across your panels. For length, measure from the top of the rod to where you want the hem: sill, below sill or floor. Email your measurements and a photo to operation@fabricakraft.com and we'll confirm the size before cutting.

Does the color of blackout curtains matter? + −

Not for blocking light. A white or pale blackout curtain blocks as much light as a dark one because the lining does the work, so choose the color that suits your room.

Can I layer sheer and blackout curtains? + −

Yes. Use a double rod with sheers on the inner rod and blackout curtains on the outer rod: soft light by day, darkness and privacy at night. Order both from us so the lengths match.

Can I add blackout lining to outdoor curtains? + −

Yes. Our 100% blackout privacy lining is available for both indoor and outdoor curtains.

Are blackout curtains good for a nursery? + −

Yes, they're a popular choice for naps and early bedtimes. Use a cordless rod and keep tiebacks out of a child's reach.

How long do custom curtains take to make? + −

Each pair is made to order in 2–3 weeks, plus shipping. Shipping is free in the US, and we'll tell you in advance if anything changes.

Can I return custom curtains? + −

Custom curtains are made to your measurements, so they can't be returned. That's why we're happy to check your measurements before we cut.

Do you make curtains in bulk for hotels and rentals? + −

Yes. There's no minimum order, and per-panel prices drop at 2, 4, 8 and 16+ pieces. For larger projects, send your window list through our B2B curtains bulk enquiry page for a quote.
