Couch Cushion Foam Replacement, Cut to Size

Replacement foam for couch cushions is the simplest fix for a sofa that has gone flat: the cover is fine, but the foam inside has given up. We cut new foam to your exact length, width and thickness so it fills your existing cover without gaps or bulges. It works just as well for a dining bench, a mudroom bench or a window seat pad. Pick High Density for everyday seating, Lux for a firmer feel, or Dry Fast for outdoor furniture, and add a Dacron wrap for a rounded, fuller look. There is no minimum order, so a single cushion insert is fine.

Settee foam, one couch cushion or a full set of sofa seats: we cut each piece to the size of your old foam, so it fills the cover again. For high density foam for couch cushions, choose HD36-R for a medium seat or Lux-R for a firm one. Super Soft is for back cushions only, and Dry Fast is for outdoor furniture.

Foam types explained

Dacron wrap: a polyester fiberfill wrap that adds about 1″ and a softer, rounder look without losing support. We apply it with fine upholstery staples that do not damage the foam or the cover.

How to measure and order

• Measure your old foam or the inside of the cover, and enter dimensions in inches.
• Dimensions between 1/4″ increments are rounded up to the nearest 1/4″.
• Do NOT reduce dimensions for the Dacron wrap; it gives a snug, sag-free fit as is.
• We email a spec sheet to approve before we cut.

Measuring tips from our customers' questions

• Measure every insert, even ones that look the same. Cushions on one sofa often differ.
• Don't go by the cushion size your furniture brand lists. Measure the old foam, or the inside of the cover seam to seam.
• Leave the white Dacron wrap on. It is part of the insert, not packing material.
• With the wrap, a new insert looks a little larger than the size you ordered until it is inside the cover, where it compresses.

Foam thickness and gluing

The biggest single-piece thickness we cut is 6″. Over 6″ up to 8″, two pieces of the same foam are glued together at no extra charge. For cushions over 8″ thick or with layers of different foam types, please contact us.

What is the best foam for couch cushions?

For seats, High Density for a medium feel or Lux for firm support, with a Dacron wrap for a rounded look. Use Super Soft for back cushions only.

Should I replace the foam or the whole cushion?

If the cover is still in good shape, new foam is enough. Read replace foam or the whole cushion to decide.

Can I get foam thicker than 6 inches?

Yes, up to 8″ in the builder as two bonded pieces. Thicker foam is by quote.

Can I return foam if it feels too firm?

Foam cut to order cannot be swapped after delivery, so check the foam types above before you order.

Where can I buy foam for couch cushions?

Here, cut to the exact size of your cushion. Choose the foam, enter your measurements and the price shows in the builder. There is no minimum order.

What is high density foam?

High Density foam is a medium-feel seating foam made to hold its shape under everyday use. It is the most popular choice for sofa seats, often with a Dacron wrap for a rounder look.

How do I replace the foam in my sofa cushions?

Unzip the cover, measure the old foam, order new foam to that size and slide it in. A Dacron wrap makes it easier to fill the corners of the cover.

Should I choose firm or medium foam for sofa seats?

For sofa seats, choose High Density foam (HD36-R) for a medium feel or Lux foam (Lux-R) for a firm one. Super Soft foam is for back cushions only, not seats.

How do I measure for replacement sofa cushion foam?

Measure the old foam edge to edge for length, width and thickness, not the outside of the cover, which puffs out and reads larger. If the foam is missing, measure the inside of the cover from seam to seam.

Will new foam fit my existing sofa cushion covers?

Yes, if you order the size of your old foam. We cut within ¼″ (maximum ±1″) of your measurements, and an optional Dacron wrap fills out the cover for a snug, rounded fit. If your covers are worn too, see our replacement couch cushions.

How long does sofa cushion foam take to arrive?

Do you sell just the foam, without a cover?

Yes. This product is foam only, cut to the size you enter. For new covers too, see replacement couch cushions.

Is the white wrap on my foam packing material?

No. That is the Dacron wrap, a polyester fiber layer that is part of the insert and gives it a full, rounded look. Leave it on and slide the foam into the cover with the wrap in place.

Can I use this foam for outdoor cushions?

Yes. Choose Dry Fast: a firm, reticulated foam for outdoor furniture, patio cushions and boats. Water drains through it quickly, and it is antimicrobial. For a covered porch, High Density gives a softer seat.

Can I order foam for just one couch cushion?

Yes. There is no minimum order, so a single insert is fine. Measure every insert you need, even ones that look the same, because cushions on one sofa often differ.

Can you cut foam for an L-shaped or T-shaped cushion?

Rectangles, trapezoids and circles are in the builder. For L-shapes, curves and other shapes, send a paper template and we cut the foam to match.
