RV Dinette Cushions: A Trade Guide for Dealers and Upholsterers

A practical trade guide to measuring, specifying and reordering custom RV dinette and sofa cushions and covers for dealers, rental fleets and upholstery shops.

Quick answer: RV dinette cushions should be made to the exact size of each seat base and back, with firm high-density foam and a cover that suits how the unit is used. Rental fleets usually choose wipe-clean Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl or Ultraleather, while retail units often use Sunbrella upholstery fabric with zipped removable covers.

Dinette and sofa cushions are among the first things a buyer or renter notices in an RV, and among the first things to wear out. Seats are sat on for meals, work and card games, then often folded down into a bed at night. This guide is for RV dealers refreshing used stock, rental fleet managers keeping units guest-ready, and upholstery shops that want a reliable source for made-to-measure cushions. You can send a single unit or a whole lot through our RV and camper cushion trade service.

We make RV dinette cushions, dinette cushion covers and replacement foam to measure, with no minimum order. That means you can fix one torn seat on a trade-in or re-cover every unit in a fleet.

Who orders RV cushions in bulk

  • Dealers: fresh cushions help used units sell faster and photograph better on the lot.
  • Rental fleets: spare covers and a standard spec make turnaround between guests quicker.
  • Upholsterers and repair shops: outsourcing the cut-and-sew lets your team focus on installs and frames.
  • Campgrounds and glamping sites: cabins and park models often use the same dinette layouts.

Browse standard shapes in our RV and camper cushions collection, or send us measurements for anything unusual.

Measuring an RV dinette correctly

RV interiors look standard but rarely are. Two units of the same model year can differ by half an inch or more, and older cushions stretch and compress. Measure the plywood base, not the old cushion.

  1. Seat base: width and depth of each seat, at the front edge and at the back.
  2. Back: width and height of each back cushion, and whether it sits on the seat or hangs above it.
  3. Thickness: note the current thickness and the clearance under the table. Thicker seats change the table height that feels right.
  4. Angles and cutouts: wheel wells, wall curves and slide-out edges often need a paper template. Trace the base, mark which side faces the aisle, and send a photo with a tape measure in shot.
  5. Bed conversion: if the dinette folds into a bed, check that the seat and back cushions lie flat together on the lowered table.

Label every cushion by unit number and position, for example "Unit 14, street side seat". Our spec sheet repeats those labels, so the right cushion goes to the right unit.

Foam that holds up on the road

RV seats get daily use and big temperature swings. Choose foam for support first and softness second.

  • HD36-R: firm, durable and a sound everyday choice for dinette seats.
  • Lux-R: a premium high-resilience grade that recovers well after long sits and carries a 7-year foam warranty.
  • Dryfast: open-cell quick-drain foam for outdoor kitchens, toy hauler patios and pop-up seating. 5-year foam warranty.
  • Thickness: 4 to 5 inches is common for dinette seats. Our online builder goes up to 8 inches, and thicker cushions are quoted by email.

Our US foam is CertiPUR-US certified, from The Foam Factory, and made without added flame-retardant chemicals. If a cover is still in good shape, you can order custom-cut replacement foam on its own and reuse it.

Vinyl, Ultraleather or woven fabric?

Cover Cleaning Good fit
Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl Wipe-clean Rental fleets, family units, outdoor kitchens
Ultraleather by Ultrafabrics Wipe with mild soap and water Higher-end coaches, leather look without real leather care
Sunbrella upholstery fabric Spot clean; zipped covers come off to wash Retail units, a softer and warmer feel

Sunbrella fabrics are solution-dyed, so they resist fading from sun through RV windows and resist mold. Horizon marine vinyl is tested to FMVSS 302, Cal TB 117-2013 and UFAC Class I. Ultraleather is tested to FMVSS 302, Cal TB 117, NFPA 260, UFAC and ASTM E84 adhered Class A. We send the maker's test reports with your quote. There are over 5,000 colors across our ranges, so you can match a manufacturer's original look or give an older unit a new one.

Covers only: re-covering existing cushions

Many trade buyers only need new covers. If the foam is still firm, a custom cushion cover made to the foam size is the most cost-effective fix. Covers have zips so they come off for washing or replacement. Ties in matching fabric are standard and Velcro is available on request. We do not add non-slip backing, so if cushions slide on a smooth base, plan for Velcro.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Measuring the old cushion instead of the base it sits on.
  • Assuming every unit of the same model is identical.
  • Forgetting the bed conversion, so seat and back do not meet when lowered.
  • Choosing soft foam for a rental unit that sees heavy use.
  • Approving color from a screen rather than a swatch inside the coach.
  • Ordering without spare covers for a fleet that turns units over quickly.

Setting up repeat orders

Dealers and fleets rarely order once. After your first order, we keep the approved spec sheets on file. Next time, you can quote the unit label and fabric, and we make the same cushion again. This works well for fleets that standardize on one layout and one color, and for upholsterers who see the same popular floor plans again and again. Our wholesale page for bulk buyers explains how repeat and reseller orders work.

How a commercial order works

  1. Send measurements, templates and photos to operation@fabricakraft.com or through our RV and bulk cushion enquiry form.
  2. Order swatches. They are $7 each, and the cost is credited back with a one-time code on your order.
  3. Approve the spec sheet and drawing. Nothing is cut until you sign off.
  4. Production takes 2 to 3 weeks for standard shapes and 5 to 6 weeks for custom shapes from a template. Rush production and express shipping are available at extra cost.
  5. Most US-collection covers ship from our Illinois warehouse. Sales tax is added at checkout where applicable, and ACH or bank transfer can be arranged case by case for business orders.

Every cushion is made within ±0.5 inch of the ordered size, or we remake it free. Fabric carries a 5-year warranty from our fabric partners and workmanship carries 2 years. Dealers and upholstery shops that order regularly can join our trade program, with 10%, 15% and 20% tiers and a dedicated contact. See all our commercial cushion services for other projects.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make covers for our existing RV dinette foam?

Yes. Send the foam size and we make covers to fit. Covers can be ordered without foam, and foam can be ordered on its own.

What is the best fabric for rental RV cushions?

Most fleets choose a wipe-clean surface such as Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl or Ultraleather, because it is quick to clean between renters. Sunbrella upholstery fabric with zipped covers suits units that want a softer feel.

Can you match odd shapes around wheel wells and slide-outs?

Yes. Send a paper template and photos. Custom shapes from a template take 5 to 6 weeks.

Is there a minimum order for dealers?

No. We make one cushion or every cushion on the lot.

Do trade discounts combine with other codes?

No. Trade pricing does not stack with other discount codes, but it applies to every order once you are approved.
