Curtain Size Calculator

Use this calculator to work out how many curtain panels you need and the finished size of each one. Enter your rod width and the drop, and it shows the panel width to order, whether a panel needs a seam, and which length to choose.

How the calculator works

  • Fullness: we sew curtains with about twice the rod width in fabric, so they hang in full folds when closed. You order the finished size you want to cover; we add the fullness.
  • Pairs: for a pair, each panel covers half the rod width.
  • Seams: standard fabrics are joined with a center seam when a panel is wider than 52″. Our Warwick Antigua, Patio, Syros and Taormina sheers are 125″ wide, so they need no seam.
  • Length: measure from the top of the rod (or the ring or hook) down to where the curtain should end. For a floor-length look, we suggest stopping about ½″ above the floor.

Take your sizes into the custom curtain builder for tab top, back tab and rod pocket curtains, or the pinch pleat curtains builder for a tailored heading. For porches and pergolas, see outdoor curtains. Blackout and privacy lining is available on indoor and outdoor panels, but not on sheers.

This calculator gives a guide only. The size you enter in the builder is the size we make.
