Treatment and Beauty Couch Pads, Bolsters and Waiting-Area Cushions
A guide for UK salons, spas and clinics on ordering made-to-measure replacement pads for treatment and beauty couches, plus bolsters and waiting-area cushions.
On this page
Quick answer: If a treatment or beauty couch is still sound but the padding is tired, a made-to-measure replacement top pad in Ultraleather or Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl is a practical fix. Measure each section of the couch top, choose a firm foam and a wipe-clean fabric, and order matching bolsters and waiting-area cushions in the same fabric.
Couch frames often outlast their padding. Vinyl cracks, foam flattens, and a room that looked fresh two years ago starts to look worn. Replacing the top pads, bolsters and reception seating together gives a salon or clinic a consistent look without buying new couches. For a quote on a whole site, use our bulk cushion enquiry form.
This guide is for salon owners, spa managers, clinic practice managers and the designers who fit them out. It covers what we make, how to measure, which fabrics clean well and how a business order works.
What we make for treatment rooms
- Replacement top pads for treatment and beauty couches, made to the size of each section.
- Bolsters for under the knees or ankles. See our pillows and bolsters collection for shapes.
- Waiting-area bench cushions and seat pads for reception benches and window seats.
- Custom shapes where a couch has angled or curved ends, quoted after a template or drawing.
We make soft furnishings. The couch frame, its mechanism and any medical or regulatory requirements for your treatments remain the buyer's responsibility. Check with the couch maker that a new pad will suit the frame before you order.
Measuring a couch top
Most couches have two or three sections, often a backrest, a seat and a leg section. Measure each one separately, because they are rarely the same size.
- Measure the length and width of each section's base board, edge to edge.
- Note the corner shape: square or rounded. For rounded corners, trace one corner on paper.
- Measure the current pad thickness and decide if you want the same or slightly more.
- Check the gaps between sections when the couch is flat and when it is raised, so new pads do not bind.
- Photograph each section from above and from the side.
Every cushion is made to within 6 mm (maximum ±2.5 cm) of the ordered size. If we miss that, we remake it free. For angled or curved ends, our custom-shaped cushions page explains how to send a template.
Foam and firmness
Couch pads need firm, even support so clients do not sink and therapists can work at a steady height. Our UK foam is made and cut by GB Foam in High Wycombe, an ISO 9001 manufacturer working since 1976, and meets UK fire safety regulations for upholstered furniture.
- Top pads: a firm, high-resilience foam keeps an even surface through many clients a day.
- Bolsters: a firm foam core holds its shape under the knees.
- Waiting benches: a medium-firm seat feels comfortable for short waits.
Thickness in the online builder goes up to 8 inches (about 20 cm). Thicker pads can be quoted by email.
Fabrics that wipe clean
In treatment rooms, the fabric has to cope with oils, lotions and frequent cleaning between clients.
- Ultraleather by Ultrafabrics. A soft, leather-like surface that wipes clean. Browse our Ultraleather cushions for colours. It is tested to Cal TB 117, NFPA 260, UFAC and FMVSS 302.
- Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl. A tough, wipe-clean vinyl that suits busy rooms and waiting areas.
- Sunbrella upholstery fabrics for reception benches where a woven look fits the brand. Removable covers are machine washable.
Always clean according to the fabric maker's guidance. Some oils and strong cleaning products can affect any surface over time, so check your products against the care instructions before you order. Swatches carry a small charge, credited back with a one-time code on your order, so staff can test them with your usual products first.
Reception and waiting areas
Waiting areas set the first impression. Bench cushions made to the full length of a built-in bench look neater than several loose pads. Our bench cushions collection covers standard shapes, all made to your measurements.
- Match the reception fabric to the treatment room pads for a consistent look.
- Ties in matching fabric are standard. Velcro is available on request. We do not add non-slip backing.
- Zipped covers let you replace a marked cover without replacing the foam.
Planning for several rooms or sites
Salon groups and multi-site clinics often run different couch models in different rooms. Treat each model as its own line on your list.
- Give each couch model a simple code, such as Room 1 Couch A, and use it on your photos and measurements.
- Keep one fabric and colour across every site so pads can be moved between rooms if needed.
- Order a few spare covers for your busiest rooms, so a marked cover can be swapped the same day.
- Keep your approved spec sheet on file. It makes repeat orders and new sites quicker to quote.

How a commercial order works
Send your couch list, measurements, photos and fabric preferences through our bulk cushion enquiry form, or email operation@fabricakraft.com. We reply with fabric suggestions and a quote.
You approve a spec sheet with a drawing for each piece before anything is cut. Standard shapes take 2 to 3 weeks; custom shapes from a template take 5 to 6 weeks. Rush production and express shipping are available at extra cost. Delivery across the UK is free and shipped DDP, so there is no duty or VAT to pay on arrival.
There is no minimum order, so a single-room salon and a group with several sites can order the same way. Salon groups, spa operators and the designers who fit them out can join our trade programme for 10%, 15% or 20% off, based on rolling 12-month spend. For other parts of a project, see our commercial cushions and curtains hub.
Frequently asked questions
Can you replace the padding on our existing treatment couches?
We make replacement top pads to your measurements. The couch frame, its fixings and any medical requirements stay with you, so check with the couch maker that a new pad will suit it.
Which fabric is best for oils and lotions?
Ultraleather and Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl both wipe clean. Test swatches with your products and follow the fabric maker's care guidance.
Do you make bolsters to match?
Yes. We make bolsters to your size in the same fabric as the couch pads, so the room matches.
What warranty applies?
Fabric has a 5-year warranty from the fabric partner and workmanship is covered for 2 years. Foam warranty depends on the grade.
Can we order one couch first?
Yes. There is no minimum order, so you can try one couch and then order the rest.
