Import Duty and GST on Cushions Shipped to Australia

Quick answer: There is nothing to pay when a Fabrica Kraft order arrives in Australia. Our cushion covers and curtains are sewn in our own workshop in India, and Indian-made goods enter Australia free of import duty under the India–Australia trade agreement (ECTA). We prepay the 10% GST on import, so the courier won’t ask you for duty, GST or fees.

Why is there no import duty?

The India–Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) came into force on 29 December 2022. From 1 January 2026, Australia removed tariffs on all goods made in India. Our covers, cushions and curtains are made in our workshop in India, so they qualify. Each shipment travels with the origin declaration the agreement asks for.

Who pays the GST?

We do. Australia charges 10% GST on imported goods, and we pay it when your order is imported. You won’t get a bill from the courier or a request to pay before delivery.

What do I pay at checkout?

• Free delivery anywhere in Australia
• No import duty, no GST on delivery and no customs processing fee

Where is the foam made?

Foam for Australian orders is made in Australia by our foam partner, so your cushions are filled locally and only the covers travel from our workshop.

How long does delivery take?

Each order is made to your exact size in millimetres. You’ll get tracking as soon as it ships, and customs clearance is handled before it reaches you.

2. We make your covers and curtains to your size in our own workshop.
3. Foam for Australian orders is made in Australia by our partner Premier Group.
4. Your order ships with its origin declaration, and we pay the GST.
5. Customs clearance is handled before your parcel reaches the local courier.
6. Your order is delivered free, with nothing to pay at the door.

How long does it take to make?

• Standard shapes take 2–3 weeks to make.
• Custom shapes made from your template take 5–6 weeks.
• Ultraleather and Gabriel fabrics are quote or pre-order only and take 8–12 weeks.

What if something isn’t right?

Every order is cut to your measurements, within ±13 mm. If we cut outside that, we remake it free, and the replacement ships free with nothing to pay on delivery. Because each piece is made to order, items made to measurements you supplied can’t be returned, so check your sizes with our measuring guide before you order.

What if a courier asks me to pay?

It shouldn’t happen. If a courier ever asks for duty, GST or a fee on a Fabrica Kraft parcel, email us at care@fabricakraft.com with your order number before paying anything, and we’ll sort it out with the carrier.

Outdoor cushions for the alfresco area are best in Sunbrella with quick-drain Dryfast foam. Indoor window seats, banquettes and sofas suit Warwick fabrics. Compare them in Sunbrella or Warwick, and order fabric swatches to check colours in your own light.

Do I need to do anything at customs?

No. You don’t need to lodge any paperwork, pay a deposit or arrange a customs broker. We handle the import, the origin declaration and the GST. All you need to do is make sure the delivery address and phone number at checkout are correct, so the courier can reach you.

Will I pay customs charges on my Fabrica Kraft order?
