Curtain Size Calculator

Use this calculator to work out how many curtain panels you need and the size of each one. Enter your rod width and the drop, and it shows the panel width to order (with fullness included), whether a panel needs a seam, and which length to choose.

How the calculator works

  • Fullness: curtains need extra width so they hang in full folds when closed. Plan panels that together cover about twice your rod width (1.5× for a flatter look). The calculator multiplies your rod width by the fullness you choose.
  • Pairs: for a pair, the total width is split across two panels.
  • Seams: standard fabrics are joined with a centre seam when a panel is wider than 52″. Our Warwick Antigua, Patio, Syros and Taormina sheers are about 126″ wide, so panels up to our 120″ maximum need no seam.
  • Width limit: each panel can be up to 120″ wide. If a panel would be wider, split the total across more panels.
  • Length: measure from the top of the rod (or the bottom of the ring or hook) down to where the curtain should end. For a floor-length look, we suggest stopping about ½″ above the floor.

Take your sizes into the custom curtain builder for tab top, back tab and rod pocket curtains, or the pinch pleat curtain builder for a tailored heading. Browse custom indoor curtains or, for porches and pergolas, outdoor curtains. Blackout and privacy lining is available on indoor and outdoor panels, but not on sheers.

This calculator gives a guide only. The size you enter in the builder is the size we make.
