Replacement Rattan Furniture Cushions: How to Get the Fit Right
How to measure and replace cushions for rattan corner sofas, chairs and day beds, including curved fronts and notched corners.

Quick answer: Measure each seat and back frame, not the old cushion. Note curved fronts, tapered seats and notches around arms, and trace awkward shapes on paper. Choose Sunbrella with quick-drain foam if the set stays outside.
Rattan garden furniture often outlives its cushions. The frames last for years, but the original cushions go flat, fade or grow mould. Replacing them is far cheaper than a new set, and made-to-measure cushions usually fit better than the originals.
Measuring a rattan corner sofa
- Number each section of the sofa and measure them one by one.
- Measure seat width at the front and back, and the depth.
- Measure back cushions: width and height from the seat to the top of the frame.
- Corner pieces are often square or L-shaped; measure both arms.
- Note any notches around arms or uprights.

Curved and tapered seats
Rattan chairs and sofas often have curved fronts or seats that narrow towards the back. Tape paper over the seat, trace the shape, mark the front and send us a photo. We cut to that exact shape.

Yes. Send measurements or templates of each piece and we make them to the same size, or slightly better if the originals never fitted well.
Do I need to replace the whole set?
No. You can order one cushion, covers only, or foam only.
What thickness are rattan sofa cushions?
Seat cushions are usually 10–15 cm; back cushions are often softer and slightly thinner.
