Import Duty and GST on Cushions Shipped to Australia
Australian orders arrive with nothing to pay on delivery: no import duty under the India–Australia trade agreement, and we prepay the GST.

Quick answer: There is nothing to pay when a Fabrica Kraft order arrives in Australia. Our cushion covers and curtains are sewn in our own workshop in India, and Indian-made goods enter Australia free of import duty under the India–Australia trade agreement (ECTA). We prepay the 10% GST on import, so the courier won’t ask you for duty, GST or fees.
Why is there no import duty?
The India–Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) came into force on 29 December 2022. From 1 January 2026, Australia removed tariffs on all goods made in India. Our covers, cushions and curtains are made in our workshop in India, so they qualify. Each shipment travels with the origin declaration the agreement asks for.
Who pays the GST?
We do. Australia charges 10% GST on imported goods, and we pay it when your order is imported. You won’t get a bill from the courier or a request to pay before delivery.
What do I pay at checkout?

Where is the foam made?
Foam for Australian orders is made in Australia by our foam partner, so your cushions are filled locally and only the covers travel from our workshop.
How long does delivery take?
Each order is made to your exact size in millimetres. You’ll get tracking as soon as it ships, and customs clearance is handled before it reaches you.

Frequently asked questions
Will I pay customs charges on my Fabrica Kraft order?
No. There is no import duty under the India–Australia trade agreement, and we prepay the GST, so nothing is due on delivery.
Do I pay GST on cushions bought from Fabrica Kraft?
GST applies to imported goods in Australia, but we pay it on your behalf when the order is imported. The courier won’t ask you for it.
Is there import duty on cushions from India?
No. Since 1 January 2026, goods made in India enter Australia duty-free under ECTA, as long as the shipment carries an origin declaration, which every Fabrica Kraft order does.
Does the same apply to curtains?
Yes. Our custom curtains are sewn in the same workshop in India, so the same rules apply: no import duty, GST prepaid, free delivery.
