Custom round papasan cushion in navy Sunbrella canvas in a rattan papasan chair

Store-bought patio cushions come in a handful of standard sizes, so they slide around, hang over the edge or leave gaps. We make custom patio cushions to the exact size of your chairs, sofas, chaises, benches and swings, so they fit the frame the way the originals did.

Start with the piece you're replacing: a dining or rocking chair seat, a deep seat sofa or sectional, a chaise lounge, an Adirondack chair, a porch swing, a daybed or a bench. Odd shapes are covered too, with round, tapered, L-shaped and T-shaped cushions and bolsters. If your foam is still good, order zippered covers only.

Every cushion is made in Sunbrella, which keeps its color in full sun and resists mildew. For cushions that stay out in the rain, choose Dryfast foam so water drains straight through. The builder shows the price as you go, and most orders ship in 2–3 weeks, with free shipping.

Building a set? Start with cushions for outdoor sofa frames, replacement chair cushions for dining and club chairs, or cushion covers if your foam is still good.

Patio Cushion FAQs

Quick answers about sizing, fabric, foam and delivery.

What size patio cushions do I need? + −

Measure the seat side to side between the arms and front to back, then decide on a thickness. If your old cushion still fits, measure it seam to seam instead. Round up to the nearest quarter inch; we cut every cushion to within a quarter inch of your sizes.

Which fabric is best for patio cushions? + −

Sunbrella. The color runs through the fiber rather than sitting on top, so it holds up to sun, rain and mildew and can be cleaned with mild soap and water.

What thickness should deep-seat patio cushions be? + −

Deep-seat seat cushions are usually 5–6″ thick. Back cushions can be softer: Super Soft foam is made for backs only.

Can patio cushions stay out in the rain? + −

Choose Dryfast foam for cushions that live outside: its open cells let water drain straight through, so the cushion dries quickly after a storm. Storing or covering cushions over winter still makes them last longer.

How long do custom patio cushions take? + −

About 2 weeks for in-stock fabrics and about 4 weeks otherwise, with free shipping. The builder shows an estimated ship date before you order.

Why might my foam and covers arrive separately? + −

Covers and foam are made in different facilities, so they can ship in separate boxes. Foam arrives vacuum-packed and returns to full size within 12–18 hours.

Do you ship patio cushions outside the US? + −

Complete cushions ship to the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Covers ship worldwide.

Are custom patio cushions returnable? + −

Custom cushions are made to your size and cannot be returned. If a cushion arrives outside our ±0.5″ tolerance, we remake it.
