A good outdoor setting can outlast several sets of cushions. When the originals go flat or fade, made-to-measure replacements are cheaper than a new setting and usually fit better.

Measuring modular sofas, sun lounges and daybeds

1. Number each modular piece and measure them one by one: width, depth and thickness.
2. Measure back cushions from the seat to the top of the frame.
3. For sun lounges, measure the seat and the back separately and note where it hinges.
4. For daybeds, measure the inside of the frame.
5. Trace curved or notched seats on paper and send a photo.

Fabric for Australian sun

UV is what fades and weakens ordinary outdoor fabric. Sunbrella is coloured right through the fibre, so it holds its colour far longer, and it resists mould and stains. For indoor-outdoor spaces such as enclosed alfresco areas, Warwick upholstery is another option.
