About this collection

Chair seats come in more shapes than most people expect: square, round, rounded-front, tapered. We make dining chair cushions to match the exact shape and size of your seat, so the cushion sits flush with the edges. There is no minimum order, so order a pair or a full set.

For a tapered seat, choose the trapezoid cushion. For a round seat, use the round cushion builder. If you also need a back pad, try the seat and back chair cushions. Dining on a bench instead? Use the bench cushion builder.

How to measure a dining chair seat

  • Measure the front width, the back width and the depth from front to back.
  • If the back corners are cut out around the chair posts, measure each notch.
  • For a curved or unusual seat, trace it on paper and send a photo of the template next to a tape measure.
  • Measure every chair if they are not a matched set. Older chairs often vary a little.

Cushions are cut to within ±0.5″ of the size you order.

Choosing foam and thickness

For dining seats, choose Luxury foam. It is firm and stays supportive at 1″ to 3″ thick, so the seat height barely changes. Our standard thickness is 3″ to 5″, and we cut up to 8″, but most dining seats do best on a thinner pad. An optional 1″ Dacron wrap softens the edge. All foam is CertiPUR-US certified and cut in the USA.

Ties and fabrics

Ties in matching fabric are standard, and Velcro is available on request. We do not use non-slip backing. For fabric, Warwick is made for indoor furniture and is in stock. Choose velvet for a softer look or faux leather for a smooth seat. Sunbrella suits a sunroom or patio table, with 160+ colors. Piping is optional. Order swatches before you commit to a full set.

Foam only, cover only, or both

Order the complete cushion, a zippered cover only, or foam only cut to your seat shape. Every cover has a zipper so it comes off for cleaning.

Delivery and restaurant orders

Dining chair cushions ship in 2–3 weeks, with free shipping. Rush production and express shipping are available at extra cost. Seating a cafe or restaurant? Dining Chair Cushion FAQs

Quick answers about seat shapes, foam, ties and delivery.

How thick should a dining chair cushion be? + −

Most dining seats do best with a thin pad of 1″ to 3″, which keeps the seat close to its original height. Luxury foam is firm and stays supportive at that thickness. Our standard range is 3″ to 5″, up to 8″, if you want a deeper seat.

How do I measure a chair seat with a curved front or notched corners? + −

Trace the seat on paper, mark any notches, and send a photo of the template beside a tape measure. For a simple tapered seat, measure the front width, back width and depth.

Do the cushions come with ties? + −

Yes. Ties in matching fabric are standard. Velcro is available on request. We do not use non-slip backing.

Can I order a set of six or eight? + −

Yes. There is no minimum order, and every cushion in the set is cut to the same size. If your chairs are not identical, tell us which size goes with which chair.

Which fabric is best for dining chairs? + −

Faux leather has a smooth surface that wipes clean, and Sunbrella is a durable, fade-resistant option. Warwick and velvet suit gentler use. See Warwick and velvet or order swatches.

Can you make cushions for a restaurant or cafe? + −

Yes, in any quantity, with no minimum order. See our page on restaurant seating cushions. Custom products are not returnable, so we recommend ordering one sample chair first.
