About this collection
Quick answer Extra long curtains are panels longer than the standard 213 cm (84″) or 244 cm (96″), usually 274 cm (108″), 305 cm (120″) or more, for tall windows, high ceilings and rods mounted near the ceiling. We make curtains to any drop up to 366 cm (144″), in sheers, printed drapery with blackout lining, and Sunbrella, from 25 cm (10″) to 305 cm (120″) wide. Each pair is made to order in 2–3 weeks with free UK delivery.

Ready-made curtains usually stop at 213 cm (84″), 244 cm (96″) or 274 cm (108″), and tall windows are rarely one of those sizes. A curtain that ends a few inches above the floor makes a high room look unfinished. Fabrica Kraft cuts every panel to your exact drop, so the hem lands where you want it: just above the floor, just touching it, or puddled 2.5–5.1 cm (1–2″) onto it.

Common extra long sizes

  • 274 cm (108″) curtains: about 9 ft ceilings with the rod mounted near the ceiling
  • 305 cm (120″) curtains: about 10 ft ceilings and tall living room windows
  • Up to 366 cm (144″): double-height rooms, lofts, stairwells and floor-to-ceiling glass
  • In between: any drop, to the inch, so you don't have to hem or settle

Why hang curtains high and long

Mounting the rod closer to the ceiling and letting the curtains fall to the floor draws the eye up, so the window and the whole room feel taller. It also helps blackout curtains block more light, because there's less gap at the top and bottom.

Measuring a long drop

Measure from the top of the rod (or the bottom of the ring for pinch pleats) to the floor at both ends and in the middle, and use the shortest number, since floors and ceilings are rarely level. Our curtain measuring guide and curtain size calculator walk you through it.

Questions about extra long curtains

How long can you make curtains?

Any drop up to 144″ (12 ft), to the inch.

Are 274 cm (108″) curtains right for an 8 ft ceiling?

Usually not. An 8 ft ceiling is 244 cm (96″), so even with the rod right below the ceiling you'll need about 239–241 cm (94–95″) to reach the floor. 274 cm (108″) curtains suit ceilings around 9 ft. The safest choice is to measure from the rod to the floor and order that exact drop.

What length curtains for 10 ft ceilings?

With the rod mounted near the ceiling, you'll usually need about 292–300 cm (115–118″). Measure from the rod to the floor to be sure.

Do extra long curtains cost more?

Longer panels use more fabric, so the price rises with the drop. The builder shows the price as you enter your size.

Can I return custom length curtains?

Custom curtains are made to your measurements, so they can't be returned. Send a photo and your measurements first and we'll check them before we cut.
