How Interior Designer Trade Programs Work: A Clear Guide
A plain guide to how our interior designer trade program works, from tiers and swatches to spec sheets, COM fabric and resale.
On this page
Quick answer: An interior designer trade program gives design professionals discounted pricing, support and priority service on to-the-trade furniture and soft goods. At Fabrica Kraft, approved members get 10%, 15% or 20% off based on rolling 12-month spend, a dedicated contact, spec sheets before cutting and priority production.
Trade programs can feel opaque from the outside. Some vendors hide terms until you apply, others bury the details in a PDF. If you are a designer, architect, stager or small studio deciding where to source custom cushions, curtains and pillows, it helps to know exactly how a program works before you commit a client project to it. This guide explains ours in plain terms. You can read the full terms and apply on our Fabrica Kraft trade program page.
What "to the trade" means
To-the-trade furniture and furnishings are priced and serviced for professionals who buy on behalf of clients. In practice, that means three things:
- Pricing: a discount off retail, so there is room for your design fee or markup.
- Support: a named contact who understands specifications, deadlines and site constraints.
- Documentation: spec sheets, drawings and fabric data you can share with clients, contractors and code officials.
Our program is open to interior designers, architects, specification professionals, stagers and resellers. If you work in a large firm, our page for interior designers, architects and specification professionals covers project support. If you are a one- or two-person practice, see our trade program for small design studios.
How the tiers work
Tiers are based on your rolling 12-month spend with us. You start at Studio as soon as you are approved and move up automatically as your spend grows.
| Tier | Discount | Qualifies at |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | 10% | From approval |
| Partner | 15% | $5,000 rolling 12-month spend |
| Signature | 20% | $20,000 rolling 12-month spend |
All members get a dedicated contact at operation@fabricakraft.com and priority production. Because the window is rolling, a single large hospitality project can move you up a tier for the following months, which helps on smaller residential jobs too.
Trade pricing does not stack
Trade pricing is your best standing price. It does not combine with promotional codes, seasonal sales or other discounts. We say this upfront so there are no surprises when you build a client quote.
What you can order
The program covers everything we make, so one account handles a whole scheme:
- Cushions: seat, bench, banquette, window seat, chaise and daybed cushions, in standard or custom shapes.
- Curtains and pillows: made to measure in the same fabrics, so soft goods match across a room.
- Parts: zipped covers without foam, or foam on its own, for re-covering existing pieces.
- Foam: CertiPUR-US certified grades such as HD36-R, Lux-R and Dryfast for outdoor use.
Fabrics carry a 5-year warranty from our fabric partners, and workmanship carries a 2-year warranty. Foam warranties depend on the grade: 7 years for Lux-R and 5 years for Dryfast. We also offer a lifetime price match guarantee.
Sampling and swatches
No client should approve fabric from a screen. Our swatches are $7 each, and the cost is credited back with a one-time code on your order. With 5,000+ colours across Sunbrella, Ultraleather, Warwick, Gabriel and velvet, a good habit is to:
- Shortlist three to five options per piece.
- Order swatches early, at concept stage rather than after the client has fallen for a render.
- Review swatches in the actual room, in daylight and evening light.
- Keep a labeled swatch board for each project so reorders match.
Browse and order from our fabric swatches page.
Spec sheets and approvals
Every commercial and custom order gets a spec sheet with a drawing before anything is cut. It shows dimensions, foam grade and thickness, fabric, piping, zipper placement and ties. You review it, share it with your client if needed, and approve it. Only then does production start.
This step protects you. If a size is wrong on the drawing, it gets caught on paper, not after the cushion arrives. Once approved, every piece is made within ±0.5 inch of the ordered size. If we miss that tolerance, we remake it free.
For commercial projects, we attach the fabric maker's flammability test reports to the quote or spec sheet. Sunbrella upholstery fabrics, for example, are tested to Cal TB 117-2013, NFPA 260 and UFAC Class I, confirmed per pattern. We do not certify finished installations; the local authority has the final say. Our fire safety and flammability standards page has the details.
COM: customer's own material
Designers often have a specific textile in mind. You can supply your own fabric (COM) after we confirm the yardage needed for the order. A few things to know:
- Confirm yardage with us before you buy, including allowance for pattern matching.
- Ship fabric clearly labeled with your project name.
- Fabric warranty does not apply to customer-supplied fabric.
- If the project needs flammability data, get the test report from your fabric supplier.
Resale and private label
Resellers, retailers and stagers get the same tiers as designers. That makes it simple to buy for a client, resell through a shop, or source for a staging inventory under one account. There is no minimum order quantity, so one cushion is as welcome as a whole property.
For an example of how designers use made-to-measure soft goods on residential projects, see leather chair pads for kitchen designers.
Mistakes to avoid
- Quoting a client before checking lead times for custom shapes.
- Approving fabric from photos instead of swatches.
- Buying COM fabric before yardage is confirmed.
- Assuming a promo code will stack on top of trade pricing.
- Skipping the spec sheet review because the job is "just a few cushions".
How a commercial order works
- Apply to the trade program. Studio pricing starts from approval.
- Send measurements, photos, templates and fabric choices to operation@fabricakraft.com or through our bulk cushion enquiry form.
- Receive a quote with fabric test data where needed.
- Approve the spec sheet and drawing.
- Production: 2 to 3 weeks for standard shapes, 5 to 6 weeks for custom shapes from a template. Rush production and express shipping are available at extra cost.
ACH or bank transfer can be arranged for B2B orders case by case. To apply and see full terms, visit the trade program page.
