What can you store in it?

Still water only. Do not store juice, milk products or carbonated drinks, because they can corrode the copper and damage the dispenser.

How do you care for a copper water dispenser?

After each use, rinse it with mild soapy water and dry it right away with a soft cloth to prevent oxidation and tarnish. Clean by hand only; do not put it in the dishwasher.

How do you remove tarnish?

If the copper tarnishes after sitting unused for a long time:

1. Place 4 teaspoons of salt in a shallow bowl.
2. Cut a lemon in half and dip the halves into the salt.
3. Gently rub the inside and outside in a circular motion with the salted lemon halves.
4. Rinse thoroughly and make sure it is completely dry.

Why does the inside of a copper vessel turn dark?

Darkening or a buildup inside a copper vessel is a natural reaction between copper and the oxygen in water. It is not harmful.

When water sits in copper overnight, trace amounts of copper ions dissolve into it. This is known as the oligodynamic effect, which helps the water resist microbes, fungi and bacteria.

The outside is lacquered so it does not darken quickly from contact with air and keeps its shine over time.
