Lumbar pillow sizes, and where each one goes
Lumbar pillows don't come in one standard size. These are the sizes most people order, but you can enter any width and length in the builder.

One long lumbar in front of your sleeping pillows finishes a bed. Go a few inches narrower than the mattress: about 36″ for a queen and 40″ or more for a king.
Put a 12″ × 20″ or 14″ × 24″ lumbar in front of two 20″ to 22″ squares, or one long lumbar across a deep sofa. Match it to your couch cushions for a set.

Already have inserts you like? Order a lumbar pillow cover on its own. Every cover is knife-edge, closes with a zipper and can have piping if you want it. If you need a new insert, our fibre fill inserts are made to any size.
For a plump, full look, order the insert about 1″ larger than the cover in each direction. If you order both from us, enter the cover size and we'll size the insert to match.

Questions about lumbar pillows
What size is a lumbar pillow?
There's no single standard. The most common sizes are 12″ × 20″ and 14″ × 24″ for sofas and chairs, and 12″ × 36″ to 14″ × 36″ for beds and benches. We make any size you need.
What size lumbar pillow fits a queen or king bed?
About 36″ long suits a queen bed. For a king, 40″ or longer looks more balanced. Keep it a few inches narrower than the mattress.
Can I order just the lumbar pillow cover?
Yes. Choose cover only in the builder and enter the size of the insert you already have.
Can lumbar pillows go outside?
Yes, if you choose a Sunbrella cover, which resists fading and mildew. Bring the pillow in during long spells of rain so the fill can dry out.
Can I match a lumbar pillow to my cushions?
Yes. Choose the same fabric in the pillow builder and we'll sew it to the size you need.
How do I wash a lumbar pillow cover?
You can machine wash Sunbrella covers on a cold, delicate cycle with mild detergent, then air dry them. Vacuum Warwick and spot clean it with mild soap and water. Velvet needs professional cleaning.
