Velvet Curtains
Velvet is the most dramatic curtain fabric there is: rich colour, a soft sheen that changes with the light, and a heavy drape that looks tailored from floor to ceiling. Because ready-made velvet panels come in only a few sizes and colours, made-to-measure is the easiest way to get floor-length velvet that actually fits a tall or wide window.
Four Warwick velvet ranges, 109 colours
- Novara (33 colours): a plush, saturated velvet for statement windows.
- Casimir (31 colours): a classic velvet that suits traditional and modern rooms.
- Lovely (24 colours): a softer velvet with a gentle sheen.
- Felix (21 colours): an easy, everyday velvet in a wide spread of colours.
Why choose velvet curtains
- Light control: the dense pile blocks far more light than linen or cotton. Add our 100% blackout lining for bedrooms and media rooms.
- Warmth: heavy velvet helps hold heat in a room on cold nights and keeps summer sun out.
- Quieter rooms: the thick pile absorbs sound, which helps in bedrooms, home theaters and rooms with hard floors.
- The look: deep, even folds and a soft sheen that reads as luxurious in any colour.
How to order
- Pick a velvet colour below. Each one has its own page.
- Enter the width and drop of each panel. For a full look, panels together should be about 2× your rod width.
- Choose your heading. Pinch pleat or back tab show off velvet's folds best.
- Add blackout lining if you need a dark room.
Panels wider than 52″ are joined with a neat centre seam that sits in the folds. Not sure about sizes? Use the curtain size calculator or read how to measure for curtains. Want to see the colour first? Order swatches.
Questions about velvet curtains
Are velvet curtains good for blocking light?
Yes. Velvet's dense pile blocks much more light than most curtain fabrics. For a fully dark room, add 100% blackout lining and hang floor-length panels on a rod that extends past the frame.
Are velvet curtains heavy?
Velvet is heavier than cotton or linen, which is what gives it its rich drape. Use a sturdy rod with a center bracket on wide windows.
How long should velvet curtains be?
Floor-length or a 1–2″ puddle looks best with velvet. Measure from the rod to the floor at both ends and in the middle and use the shortest. See extra long curtains for tall windows.
How do you clean velvet curtains?
Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment in the direction of the pile, and blot spills quickly. Follow the care code for each fabric and have them professionally cleaned when needed.
Does velvet crush or mark?
Velvet pile shifts with touch and light, so gentle shading is a natural part of the look. A light steam from the back usually lifts creases after delivery.
Do you make velvet cushions to match?
Yes. Every colour here is also available as custom velvet cushions, pillows and window seat cushions.
