The colour goes all the way through each fibre, so the fabric resists fading in strong Australian sun and resists mould and mildew. Why Sunbrella suits Australian outdoor areas

Outdoor cushions in Australia deal with high UV, summer storms, salt air on the coast and chlorine around pools. Solution-dyed acrylic holds its colour in those conditions far longer than printed polyester, and most Sunbrella upholstery fabric is water- and stain-repellent. Pair it with quick-dry foam on an uncovered deck so rain drains straight through. How to order

Measure your seat in millimetres (our measuring guide shows how), choose a colour, pick your foam and finish, and the price updates as you build. Not sure about a colour? Order swatches first. Getting ready for summer? See our summer outdoor cushion checklist and alfresco and pool cushion ideas.

Questions about Sunbrella cushions

Is Sunbrella fabric waterproof?

Most Sunbrella upholstery fabric is water-repellent, not waterproof: rain beads off, but heavy rain can soak through over time. Sunbrella Rain and marine vinyl are waterproof. Quick-dry foam lets any water that gets in drain out fast.

Why do Sunbrella cushions cost more than cheaper outdoor cushions?

The fabric is solution-dyed acrylic with a long mill warranty, so it lasts several summers longer in full sun. Prices also vary by range; see why Sunbrella prices vary.

Can I order Sunbrella covers only?

Yes. If your foam is still in good shape, order zippered Sunbrella cushion covers cut to your foam size.

Do you ship Sunbrella cushions anywhere in Australia?

Yes. Shipping is free to every Australian state and territory, and prices are shown in AUD.

How do I clean Sunbrella cushions?

Brush off dirt, then sponge with mild soap and lukewarm water and let the cover air-dry. Most covers unzip and can be machine washed on a cold, gentle cycle.

Custom Sunbrella outdoor cushions

Sunbrella cushions are made to your exact size, for any outdoor or indoor seat. Choose from more than 160 Sunbrella fabrics, pick your foam, and we cut and sew the cushion to order, with a zippered cover so it can be cleaned or refreshed later. Need every shape and fabric option? See all custom outdoor cushions.

Sunbrella is a solution-dyed acrylic: the colour goes all the way through the fibre instead of sitting on the surface, so Sunbrella outdoor cushions hold their colour in strong sun, resist mildew and shed rain. Most Sunbrella fabrics carry a five-year limited warranty from the manufacturer, and they can be cleaned with mild soap or a diluted bleach solution.

Shop Sunbrella cushions by furniture type: outdoor chair cushions, bench cushions, window seat cushions, Sunbrella chaise lounge cushions, Adirondack chair cushions, deep seat patio cushions, verandah swing cushions, replacement couch cushions and boat cushions.

Pick what you are making, enter your sizes and choose a colour; the price updates as you build. Every cushion is cut to within 6 mm (maximum ±25 mm) and most orders ship in 2–3 weeks, with free shipping.

Questions about Sunbrella cushions

Quick answers about sizing, fabrics, foam and delivery.

What are Sunbrella outdoor cushions made of? + −

Sunbrella fabric is solution-dyed acrylic: the colour is added to the fibre before it is spun, rather than printed on the surface. That is why it holds its colour in direct sun and weather. We fill the covers with your choice of High Density, Luxury, Dry Fast or Super Soft foam.

Are Sunbrella cushions waterproof? + −

Standard Sunbrella fabric is water-repellent, not waterproof: it resists rain, dries quickly and resists mildew. For cushions that stay wet, choose Sunbrella Rain fabric or Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl, and pair it with Dry Fast foam so water drains through.

Sunbrella vs Olefin: which is better for outdoor cushions? + −

Olefin (polypropylene) is lighter and usually cheaper, and it dries fast. Sunbrella acrylic feels softer, holds its colour longer in strong sun, and most Sunbrella fabrics carry a five-year limited warranty. For cushions that sit in full sun all season, Sunbrella is the safer choice. See how Sunbrella compares with other outdoor fabrics.

Are Sunbrella cushions worth the price? + −

They cost more upfront, but they fade less, clean with diluted bleach and are covered by a five-year fabric warranty, so you replace them less often. Over several seasons, Sunbrella cushions usually cost less per year than cheaper cushions that need replacing.

How do I clean Sunbrella outdoor cushions? + −

For most stains, brush off loose debris, then mix one cup of mild soap with one gallon of warm water, sponge the cushion, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. For tougher stains, Sunbrella fabric is bleach-cleanable, which means a diluted bleach solution will not damage the fabric or strip the colour.

How long do Sunbrella cushions last? + −

Most Sunbrella fabrics carry a five-year limited warranty from the manufacturer. How long a cushion lasts outdoors depends on sun, climate and care; choosing Dry Fast foam and bringing cushions in during long wet spells helps them last longer.

Can I order Sunbrella cushions in custom sizes and shapes? + −

Yes. Every Sunbrella cushion is made to your measurements. Send the seat depth, width and thickness (and back height for back cushions) with your quote. We also make trapezoid, rounded-corner, triangle, round and half-round, L-shaped, T-shaped and bolster cushions.

How accurate is the size? + −

Every cushion is cut to within 6 mm (maximum ±25 mm) of your measurements. Measure the foam edge to edge, not the old cover.

How long do custom Sunbrella cushions take? + −

Most orders ship in 2–3 weeks. Custom shapes can take longer, and rush production is available at extra cost.

Can I order covers only, or foam only? + −

Yes. Order Sunbrella cushion covers only to fit foam you already have, or custom foam without a cover.

Can you make replacement covers for my existing cushions? + −

Yes. Send us the size of your foam, measured edge to edge, and we sew new Sunbrella covers to fit it, whatever brand your furniture is. See replacement cushions for outdoor furniture.

Why did my foam and covers arrive in separate boxes? + −

Covers and foam are made in different facilities, so they can ship separately. Foam arrives vacuum-packed and returns to full size within 12–18 hours of unpacking.

Can I see the fabric first? + −

Yes. Sunbrella swatches are available for a small fee per swatch. Trade customers can ask about free swatches.
